Painting has always been my passion. I love the process and sensuous nature of the paint and brush. Some of my more recent work is moving away from painting recognizable subject matter. The focus is less on the representation and more on a world within the artwork itself.

Through painting I am able to escape into another zone, and become delightfully absorbed in a playful adventure. "Play is one of the most basic and primitive elements of the human psyche, and ultimately art is simply a deep and essential play." (Michelle Cassou)

Combining dramatic brushstrokes, colors, tones, and layering of paint on large canvases, I try to create places or things remembered or maybe just a state of mind. The paint leads me on, as the work evolves through a process of puzzles, solutions, and unexpected discoveries. I never really know what the final result will be.

After studying at Massachusetts College of Art, and the Museum School, in Boston, I worked in the commercial art industry, raised two children with my husband Alec, while painting and drawing whenever I could. For the last 10 years, I have been painting and exhibiting work while living in the Portland, Maine area. I am presently co-owner of SIRENS studio/gallery, at 19 Pleasant Street, in Portland, where I paint whenever possible and exhibit work.
